-118 pounds of pure fentanyl that was worth about $20 million in the street would have possibly been able to kill about 26 million people. 26 million people.... Wow
-If you would take a guess, how many of these shipments are being delivered in a week?
The first thing I thought of was how much fentanyl is not seized. While this seize will keep the fentanyl from this shipment from reaching the hands of users, there will be other sources. Nonetheless, this is quite the bust.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I also remember that we talked about that new synthetic opioid that is 24 times stronger than heroin.
DeleteAgreed. This is a small victory, but is nothing compared to the vast supply that still lingers in our country. I like how efforts to catch dealers and smugglers have turned out successful (like this one), but much more needs to be done.
DeleteThat's pretty incredible. I wonder if they'll be able to link the substance to the source.
ReplyDeleteI’m also curious about that!
DeleteHopefully they can link the substance to the source. Can't have that on the street.
DeleteThe source probably contains far more than 118 pounds.
DeleteFentanyl is several times more dangerous than heroin. And it's cheaper than heroin. It said more than 100 Americans die each day because of overdose of fentanyl. Heroin and fentanyl have become serious public health emergency in the United States.
ReplyDeleteQuite the bust! As others have mentioned, this is sadly only a drop in the bucket and the police have to try to trace this bust to the source in order to eradicate it.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing and hopefully they will be able to use what they found and whoever was in possession of it to track where it came from.
ReplyDeleteAs others have mentioned, it is great that this fentanyl was seized but this is only a small piece. If you are law enforcement, how do you even begin to address the supply of illegal drugs? It just seems like for every one of these busts, there are many more shipments that make it through without law enforcement even knowing.
