This New York Post article discusses a new OxyContin brand “Super Pill” that has been being prescribed by doctors recently. According to the article, the drug “has the dosage power of 24 Vicodin tablets in one swallow.”
I personally found this short article pretty shocking. It seems to me as if this drug being released and prescribed major step backwards in trying to aleviate the Opioid Crisis. What are your thoughts on this?
Yeah, this seems really dangerous. I wonder what the DEA's justification was for allowing this pill on the market. It seems to be as bad as Fentanyl.
ReplyDeleteI agree. This seems entirely unnecessary. Has our tolerance for pain gotten that low or has our tolerance been built up for painkillers?
DeleteYeah its a no from me on this super pill dawg. It just sounds too dangerous and irresponsible to even be a thing that people could use... who was like, "yeah i know Vicodin are the most addictive prescription drug, how bout we make a pill that is 24 times the power."???
ReplyDeleteI agree. Like how does the idea of a "super pill" even arise, especially in the middle of the deadliest drug crisis this country has had.
DeleteI am struggling to understand why they found the need for a pill with such strength when there are already so many that are negatively affecting peoples lives today. I would go along with what Guillermo said in that I would be interested to hear the DEA's justification for allowing this drug.
ReplyDeleteI also am struggling with why there was an actually need for this drug, and why it is being prescribed. This is just morally irresponsible, and the company producing it should be held responsible.
ReplyDeleteCompletely. This "Super Pill" puts the true intentions behind these big pharma's into perspective.
DeleteI heard that Super Pill is not only deadly but also cheap, and it has caused certain number of deaths. I am shocked it is a prescribed drug. It may need to be forbidden.

ReplyDeleteThis is truly shocking. Hopefully more attention is brought to this pill before it catches on.
