Whose to Blame? The Family Trying to Escape Blame for the Opioid Crisis

Here is an article detailing the history of OxyCotin and its founders:   https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2018/04/sacklers-oxycontin-opioids/557525

Do you think the creators prescription opioids should take all or share the blame when it comes to the opioid crisis? Or should other factors be to blame such as law and regulations, government, medical professionals? Should there be blame if there is a separation between the creator and the corporation that sells it?

  1. I like how this connects to our reading. I sincerely doubt that Purdue didn't profit from Oxycontin's success, but it's tough to blame Arthur without anymore substantial evidence. He implemented the strategy for his business. He died well before it was approved and he wasn't around to see any of its effects. I think it's more important to focus on changing our system and the laws and regulation in place.
