4 part series on opioid crisis

The Hill, an online magazine about Washington politics, has a new series.  The first installment was published yesterday (see here).  It points out that 115 people a day die from overdoses.  It has some great charts that really put the notion of an epidemic or crisis in perspective.

  1. That is scary data...What are natural opioids?

  2. This is shocking. It almost seems that the more deaths there are, for producers, the better it is for their business given that it is showing the potency of their drug indicating that it is being consumed at a high rate.

  3. I think an important point in this article is the shift in perception about addiction, from it being a "moral falling" to a disease. I believe that addiction is a sickness and it should be treated like any other one. We spend tons of money on finding cures to other illnesses, so why shouldn't we do the same for one that is killing 115 per day?
